about

Dear Readers,

Culture is the soil from which humans grow. As humans, we draw on cultural resources in a process of becoming.  Culture has shaped our thinking, helped us to make meaning and formed our imagination of what life can be.  And while it often feels like culture is shaping us, at this point in our history with all the challenges humans face, its crucial to realize that humans have been shaping our culture all along. This ability is what sets us apart as a species.

Arguably, one of the most important human cultural endeavors has been agriculture. The term agri- comes from Greek roots meaning ‘field’. Agriculture could therefore be define as the field of soil from which humans grow. This definition places agriculture in a position where it belongs, as a source nurturing human life and cultural development.

We hope to explore agriculture and culture in the context of where we came from, where we are and where we are going. Join us on this learning journey to explore your thinking around this essential topic.

Enjoy!
